Asin has been in news recently for having miffed south film industry. These days she is heard of attending eye camps in war affected areas that was once under LTTE in Sri Lanka.

Nadigar Sangam’s secretary Radha Ravi said in an interview given to a Tamil paper that the TFPC elections are over so the industry will now sort out the Asin’s issue. All the industry associations like FEFSI, TFPC, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors associations would come together this week to discuss the course of action against the actress.

Asin seems to have added fuel to fire by visiting the war-torn areas – Vavuniya and Jaffna – in Sri Lanka along with the first lady of that country to conduct an eye camp. This has irked the Tamil film fraternity further.

Speaking on this issue, the Nadigar Sangam secretary Radha Ravi said that the Producer’s Council, FEFSI, Theatre Owners’ Association, and Distributors’ Association would convene a meeting in a day or two to discuss the course of action against Asin.

Radha Ravi pointed out that the delay in convening this meeting was because of the Producers’ Council elections.

Asin’s visit to the war ravaged Vavuniya in a Sri Lankan Army helicopter along with the first lady Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa, to conduct an eye camp for Tamils has raised an hornets’ nest in Kollywood.

“Asin, don’t leave us, stay with us,” screamed the young girls at the Siriliya Sevana orphanage in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, on Sunday. In a quiet gesture of solidarity with displaced people — something that no one from Tamil Nadu had attempted in the island nation — Asin stayed back in Colombo even after the crew of Ready wound up and left the island nation. Asin, who is facing the threat of a red card from the Nadigar Sangam for daring to shoot in Sri Lanka for the Bollywood film Ready co-starring Salman Khan, had earlier evinced interest in visiting war torn areas to Namal Rajapaksa, MP and son of the Lankan president. She had also set in motion an eye camp in Vavuniya along with Salman Khan’s Being Human Foundation.

On Sunday, Asin accompanied by the First Lady of Sri Lanka, Madam Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa, visited Jaffna and Vavuniya, once LTTE fortresses in Sri Lanka.

Asin became the first Indian celebrity to set foot in these Tamil areas in 30 years. The actress is in Sri Lanka for the last two weeks was shooting for her Hindi film Ready with Salman Khan.

Earlier, Asin had met Namal Rajapaksa, MP and eldest son of the President and expressed her desire to visit the war stricken areas, when she had landed in Colombo. She also wanted to do something to help the Tamil population of the areas, and thus came up with the idea of the medical camp along with Salman’s ‘Being Human Foundation’.

Asin sets the record of being the first film star from Kollywood in 30 years to have set foot in Jaffna and Vavuniya which was once dominated by the LTTE.

At the Vavuniya general hospital, she went to interact with a few patients and even watched an ongoing cataract surgery, performed by a surgeon who has flown in from India. Actress said that they were told that there is a waiting list of at least four thousand Tamils for cataract surgery, and even if the number is more, Salman Khan along with her was keen on helping them all.
Asin infoms while talking to one of the newspaper that the surgery is an initiative by Salman and her who are also together starring in the forthcoming, ‘Ready’ together, which was shot in Colombo. After which The South Indian Artistes Association is thinking of issuing a red card against Asin for shooting in Sri Lanka.

Bearing the grudge of Southern film fraternity for shooting in Colombo, actress Asin is seriously worried about how to shoot for her Tamil film Kavalkaaran in Tamil Nadu.

Asin is currently in Sri Lanka for the shoot of Ready with Salman Khan and couldn’t understand why the issue of her being in Sri Lanka became a political agenda down south. She has expressed her fear and discomfort to a daily from Colombo.

The title of Vijay and Asin Thottumkal starrer romantic comedy film has been named as Kaaval Kaadhal. Till recently, it was speculated that it was Kavalkaran, which is the the translation of Bodyguard in Tamil and now a source from the sets has confirmed the title.

The movie went to floors in April 2010 and from the day one the movie Kaaval Kaadhal has been in news. First it was Asin, who was left breathless after a sudden gas leak in her vanity van whilst shooting for the film. Recently, producer of Bodyguard Johnny Thomas filed a petition in the Saidapet Court stating that the director has taken his permission and has no right to remake the film. Later, magistrate who enquired about the petition, directed the police to look into the matter and submit a report.

Asin is facing challenges day in and day out these days. Earlier it was John Abraham who reportedly refused to shoot with her and now there’s more bad news for the actress.
According to sources, Asin will no longer be part of Anurag Basu’s upcoming film SILENCE that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
The reason for this is Asin’s height. It’s learnt that Asin lost the role as many felt that she is not tall enough to don that character. Now Asin has no choice but to walk out of this project.
