Ghajini’ girl Asin hogged limelight lighting the traditional lamp at International Film Festival at Goa at its inauguration. But that has not given her all joy.

What has given her more happiness is that she shared the dais with veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rahman.

The south Indian actress was extremely elated and couldn’t believe herself that she had been a guest along with a veteran achiever like Waheeda

Sharing her joy, Asin says, “I cannot but admire her standing next to her. She was kind and asked me about her career and appreciated me for my films.”

Among South Indian actresses, it has been said that Asin is the luckiest one of them all to have bagged two films with two Khan superstars in quick succession. After her Hindi debut Ghajini turned out to be a superhit, she had a reason to feel absolutely lucky because it was not an ordinary hit but a breakthrough one at that, that too an Aamir Khan film.

Anon, she bagged London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. Seen as an Iyyengar girl in the film, her role did not have much scope to show her acting skills. Yet she hoped that her first full-fledged Bollywood film was going to bring greater fortunes in her career.

Everyone was thinking if Asin would ever come down to south after her Hindi ‘Ghajini’ became a super hit there. As she was paring with big shot there the actress even changed her base from Chennai to Mumbai.

But like a sudden jolt we hear news about Asin returning to South to pair with our Vijay. Birdies say that this maybe because the girl’s latest release ‘London Dreams’ did not make business like her previous hit.

Asin has been bombarded with questions from her fans ever since her second Bollywood film, London Dreams, didn’t do well.
They have asked her why she needed to sign a film where she didn’t have much of a role.
Asin has replied back saying that for a beginner, it is a huge accomplishment to have acted with three of the industry’s most popular actors in her first two movies itself.
And she stated that at this point she’s simply going with the flow and not thinking about anything much.

Asin feels it was by lucky chance that she was able to stand next to such a talented artist. Asin is all smiles despite the failure of her Hindi venture ‘London Dreams’ in the box office. “It’s all in the game. Life is all about facing success and failures,” says the actress.

On reports that she alleged that she was portrayed like a junior artiste in the Salman Khan-Ajay Devgn starrer, Asin says, “I have no complaints about the film. I accepted to be part of the project only after listening to the story.”

“Since there are two leading actors in the movie, it is obvious that the plot would be set around them. There is no point in expecting more importance to me. I am content with my role in ‘London Dreams’,” she says

She might be away in Bollywood fulfilling her assignments but Asin will meet 50 gals as a part of promotional activities for the Chennai based fairness cream manufacturer CavinKare’s brand Fairever. Asin is the brand ambassador for Fairever, which is celebrating its 10th year.

The Glow with ASIN Contest is open for Indian citizens. Contestants are required to SMS the unique 9 digit code on the Fairever pack and SMS to 58558 in the format ‘ (9 Digit code)’. 50 lucky girls will get an opportunity to celebrate 10 years of Fairever with Asin.

The current week has been witnessing many denials in Kollywood, more than it saw in the entire last month. Two particulars, however, stood out for various reasons. Actresses usually stay away from either denying or recognizing having heard rumours about themselves but in the instant case, both Asin and Lakshmi Rai issued press releases to clarify their stance in their respective cases.

It is said Asin had separated from her parents, who had literally told her not to have any truck with them in future. A leading vernacular daily had reportedly published a news item wherein it claimed that Asin’s father Joseph had commented that ‘Asin has grown wings and had flown away!’ (very filmy, isn’t it?)

Asin is out of Aushutosh Gowarikar’s film Khelein hum Jee Jaan Se. Now Deepika is replacing the petite actress. This had to happen after Asin walked out of the film as she felt that her role was too small.

Deepika, being the professional that she is accepted the offer gracefully. The actress knows the importance of working with a big director and a successful hero, no wonder she is doing the film.

Moreover the fans and the trade too is all excited about the Abhshek-Deepika pairing. It’s a new pair and given Abhishek’s spontaneity and Deepika’s adaptability this could be a good film to look forward to.
