When an outstanding iconic figure like Vidya Balan is overthrowned by a younger actor like Asin is really a hard news to swallow.

As the Bollywood industry knows that Vidya Balan is the first choice in any director’s list is quite shocking to hear that she has been replaced. But there is reasonable answer to why things had happened so because Bhansali was continuously delaying the project that apparently erupted Vidya’s patience.

Evidently when Balan thought to quit Bhansali had no choice but replace Asin in her place and the same case even happened with Harman Baweja who was replaced by John Abraham.

The constant postponement of the film Chenab Gandhi being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Vibhu Puri, has led to the actors being in a constant stage of doubt on whether the film will ever take place. And now the latest casualty is said to be Vidya Balan who has moved out of the project. It was Harman Baweja who had to go out of the film first because the dates clashed and he was replaced by John Abraham in the film. And now we hear that Vidya has moved on from the project and may find herself replaced by Asin who has been making waves in Bollywood. We are still wondering what the reason for the postponement of the shootings is and would like to know it as much as the stars who are playing musical chairs in the film.

Top Malayali actresses who made waves outside their state, are getting back to familiar moorings in Kerala! Successful Malayali girls, like Nayanthara, Meera Jasmine, Mamta Mohandas, Priyamani and Bhavana, who made it to the top in Tamil and Telugu films, are now doing Malayalam films. The big buzz now is that Asin, who has no current projects in Bollywood, has agreed to do a Malayalam film for a director known for his meaningful films. Nayanthara’s first Malayalam film in three years, Bodyguard, with Dileep is releasing next week. Nayan, who is shifting base, has also signed her first film in Sandalwood, a big budget extravaganza, directed by and starring superstar Upendra. In Malayalam, she will be doing director Shyama Prasad’s next film; two other films with Mammootty and Mohanlal are in the pipeline.

She’s called Asin’s doppelganger and rightly so. Probably the pressure is building up on the up-and-coming Poorna, who was hailed as next Asin by Vijay. Much as she loves Asin, Poorna denies that she tries to emulate her.

“I am a big time fan of Asin. But when it comes to my style, I have a style of my own and do not try to duplicate her. I know you can only sustain in this industry if you are unique,” she was quoted as saying. Ahem!

By Jilawatan At a time when size zero is becoming a craze among Bollywood heroines, Asin’s answer to a question on slimming down is a big no. “I believe in performance, not size zero,” said the ‘Ghajini’ girl in an interview. “I am comfortable with my looks and I want audience to think me as a girl-next-door. Size zero is an unhealthy trend. I don’t want to pain myself to reduce weight,” the south Indian siren who is making waves in Hindi cinema said. Claiming that actresses from the south are getting a very good reception in Mumbai, Asin said the reason was their commitment, dedication and honesty. “The respect for south Indians increased especially after the winning of the Oscars by Rahman,” she said. Extending her wishes to Trisha, who too had stepped into Hindi film industry, Asin, when asked about her advice to her colleague, said, “I am not experienced enough to advice someone. But my wishes are always there for Trisha.” Denying reports that she had been approached for a Vijay film, she said, “No such offer came in my way. But I am always ready to share the screen space with my ‘Pokkiri’(Tamil) pair. Because, Vijay is a nice person to work with.”

Asin, decided to take a break and went to Kochi, her home town with parents and spend the day with relatives and friends with a small party in the night with homemade food cooked by her mom. She also caught up with few movies and chilled out in her apartment

The occasion was a Mumbai event, where about 300 persons, posing themselves as her fans, tried to get too close to Asin for comfort.

Shah Rukh, on seeing the damsel in distress, sent his security guards to save Asin from the mob. After a few anxious moments, the actress was able to wriggle out from the crowd.

With a single film, Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’, Asin has become very popular in the North. It seems, she will need the services of security personnel for her travels in the North in future.

Ever since Asin made her sensational debut in Bollywood, with ‘Ghajini’ the actress is not looking back. She is going strong and completes the year pretty well with a good number of awards in het kitty.

It all started with the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and she went on to win most of the Debutant Awards. With two Filmfare Awards in South and one in North Asin already bagged three Filmfare Awards very early in her career.

Three A’s — Abhishek Bachchan, Ashutosh Gowariker and Asin —were meant to be working on Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se.

However, Asin who reportedly didn’t find the script too appealing ditched the other two ‘A’s just a week before they went on set. A source in Goa said, “Looks like there was an allergy factor floating around, hence this happened.” Now rumours have it that Abhishek and Asin were once again to be cast in Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Crooked.
