asin-John1 Kaakha Kaakha remake with Asin, John Abraham shelved? Helmer Gautam Menon has dropped the Bollywood remake of his Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha and has moved on to a new project.

Menon will instead helm the Bollywood remake of his Telugu romance drama Ye Maya Chesave (2010) with Prateik Babbar in the lead. The female lead is yet to be decided.

“Though producer Vipul Shah has made announcements, Gautam Menon, who was to direct the film, has suddenly opted out of the project. The director will soon make the Hindi version of his Telugu hit Ye Maya Chesave that had Nag Chaitanya in the lead,” a source told Deccan Chronicle.

Kaakha Kaakha remake ran into trouble when John had to cancel his dates for the film as he could not fulfill the demands of the script which required him to gain weight. The weight gain would have clashed with his other film Dostana 2 in which he is required to have a chiseled beach body.

Ye Maya Chesave was simultaneously made in Tamil, titled Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, starring the Khatta Meetha girl, Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan Rajendar.

The film, a romance between a Hindu Telugu male boy a Malayali Christian girl focuses on the divisive role of religion in their relationship.

Prateik impressed Menon with his role in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na to earn the lead role in the remake.

Asin is currently filming for Aseem Bazmi’s Ready with co-star Salman Khan in Sri Lanka.
