asin_thottumkal_003_h Is Central government supporting Asin?

Asin’s visit to the war ravaged Vavuniya in a Sri Lankan Army helicopter along with the first lady Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa, to conduct an eye camp for Tamils has raised an hornets’ nest in Kollywood.

Nadigar Sangam secretary Radha Ravi in an interview to a Tamil paper has said: “Now that the TFPC elections are over, the industry will sort out the Asin issue. All the industry associations like TFPC, FEFSI, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors associations would convene a meeting before the end of the week to discuss the course of action against Asin”.

The question everybody in Kollywood is asking is, why did Asin go in a Sri Lanka army helicopter with the first lady and that too when Salman Khan and the rest of the unit of Ready had gone back to Mumbai?

Meanwhile Asin’s statement that “I came to Sri Lanka for work and now I want to reach out to the Tamil population and do something within my capacity to help them”, does not cut ice.

Our sources say that Asin would not have dared to be identified so brazenly with the Rajapaksa government without the tacit support of the Congress led UPA government in New Delhi.

A top politician from Kerala close to Sonia Gandhi worked behind the scenes for Asin’s trip to Tamil heartland in Sri Lanka. Remember Asin, a Malayalee by birth was one time the most popular heroine in Tamil cinema, and her visit to Vavuniya will definitely provide the “healing touch” to the local Tamils.

The Delhi based noted journalist and columnist R Rajagopalan had written that the UPA government does not want the Tamil in Sri Lanka issue to be raked up any more in Tamil Nadu as they have very good relationship with Rajapaksa government.

Rajagopalan tweeted : “ Chennai Police arrested Seeman (film director and actor) a pro LTTE leader, under pressure from centre and a warning to state police about provocative speeches of Seeman”.
