Asin Thottumkal shot to fame in Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ and the actress shifted her base to Mumbai when she was offered ‘London Dreams’. Asin was new to Mumbai and did not know many people here. However, she got support and guidance from none other than Sridevi who happened to be staying in the same colony.

Asin loves to spend time with Sridevi and her daughters and they bond with each other very well. Whenever Asin has time she drops in Sri’s house to play with her daughters.

South Indian actress Asin Thottumkal, who has entered Bollywood through Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, gets marriage proposals from her admirers and fans too often that she is immune to them. But she just couldn’t ignore the proposal she got from one of her admirers, and she is very secretive about it.

Asin can’t forget a marriage proposal from her fan from Chennai, who sent her a solitaire along with an emotional letter. She said that it is a very personal issue involving her fan and so she wouldn’t speak about it.

Asin talks about films, stardom, Onam and what keeps her ticking

“Whenever people say I’ve been a pioneer in Bollywood, I feel like I’ve stepped on the moon,” quips actor Asin Thottumkal. Her success story is nothing short of the stuff that makes fairy tales.

After a forgettable debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s film “Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka” in 2001, Asin took a break and resurfaced in Tollywood and then Kollywood where she soon became one of the top stars with some huge hits in both Telugu and Tamil.

Asin Thottumkal has a serious problem – she has impersonators on all major social networking websites. Setting the record straight, the actress says that other than her own blog, she is neither on Twitter nor Facebook.

“I was ready to overlook these fake IDs using my name as long as they weren’t harmful. But now the problem is getting out of hand,” Asin, who made it big in Hindi films with Ghajini, said.

The other night a colleague had a whole long conversation with ‘Asin’ and called up the next day to share her excitement about the intimate conversation they had.

Actress Asin is the latest addition to the list of an increasing number of Indian film stars who are victims of ‘internet abuse’.

In Asin’s case, the hacker got too close for comfort, as he/she not only had the cheek to hack into the actress’s personal mailbox but also to reset her password. Obviously, the actress is maha worried!

The crime came to light a few days ago when Asin typed her password but could not log into her personal e-mail. To her horror, net technicians informed her that somebody had hacked into her mailbox and reset the password.

Here’s a side to Asin that only her family members know. A source said, “Asin is actively associated with various NGOs in Kerala and Chennai. She secretly visits these NGOs whenever she finds the time. She loves being actively involved with all the charity work that they do.”

Asin personally looks into the disabled and the needy. “But Asin does not like to talk about all this. These things are not to be spoken. She has been doing this for years now and has been a regular visitor to the various institutions in Chennai and Kerala. Being philanthropic is Asin’s second nature and she puts her heart and soul in it.”
