Popular South Indian beauty Asin is reported to be the heroine opposite John Abraham in the Hindi remake of master filmmaker Gautham Menon’s super hit cop story Khakha Khakha (Tamil), starring Suriya and his actress-wife Jyotika.

The shooting of this untitled Hindi remake is all set to begin in May under the direction of Nishikant Kamath. The original director Gautam Menon was originally expected to direct the Hindi version, but he stepped out of the project for some reasons.

Reportedly, Katrina had back tracked from the project due to the fact that the director had signed on Priyanka Chopra as well in the film.

And this time in the remake of Telugu hit READY, which will be directed by filmmaker Anees Bazmee, who gave us blockbusters like NO ENTRY, WELCOME, SINGH IS KINNG in the past.

Before finalizing Asin, a lot of other B-town actresses were being considered. Infact some reports suggest that Anees was quite keen on signing up Genelia D’souza, who was also a part of the original film, as he thought Genelia would perfectly fit the bill. However Genelia couldn’t become its part for reasons best known to the makers and eventually Asin was in.

The Tamil remake of bodyguard will begin in April, sources confirm. The film, which has Vijay and Asin playing the lead roles, will be directed by Siddique. In fact the director was responsible for making Bodyguard a hit in Malayalam.

The shooting of this film will begin in Kumbakonam on April 7th 2010. Both Vijay and Asin will camp in Kumbakonam to complete the filming of some important scenes.

The movie is being expected by the film buffs not just because it is a Vijay starrer but also because Asin is making a comeback to Kollywood.

Katrina, who turned down the offer to play the lead in Khamosi opposite ranbir Kapoor after learning that Priyanka Chopra bagged an important challenging role to play in the same.

A source revealed that Priyanka has the best role in the film, and Katrina wasn’t thrilled on sharing the screen with PC.

Buzz is there that after delivering a series of hit films last year, Katrina is looking out to do only solo project or at least get a better role.

So, Katrina moved out of the project after she heard that she will have to share the screen with Priyanka Chopra.

Multilingual actress Asin Thottumkal has been voted Youth Icon of Kerala in a public poll conducted by the Asianet TV channel.

“The poll was conducted for over 15 days and involved a lot of personalities. Asin came out the winner since she is intelligent and representative of the thinking youth. She is talented, beautiful and has done Kerala proud,” said a source.

On March 26, the actress was given the honour in the presence of the Who’s Who of the south Indian film industry and political leaders.

A couple of years ago, she flew the coop and built her nest in Bollywood. Now, there is news that Asin is coming back home to roost, at least temporarily. Asin has signed a Tamil film with Vijay. The remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard, directed by Siddique, is being shot in Karaikudi.

Reliable sources say that it will also be made in Hindi, with Asin in the lead. Meanwhile, grapevine has it that Asin is on the verge of finalising two other Hindi films. Looks like Asin is back with a bang after a short self-enforced break — she had spent the interim period endorsing a few products as well as supporting some pet charity projects.
